Shane Allen attended the acclaimed High School for Performing and Visual Arts in Houston, TX, where he was blessed with the opportunity to learn from modern giants and classic masters. He continued his studies on scholarship at St. Olaf College in Minnesota, where he recorded a piano feature that won the 2011 Downbeat Magazine Award for Best Large Ensemble.
After 8 years of living and performing in Minnesota, he moved to Eugene in 2019, bringing with him an un-rivaled passion for Lindy Hop and swing music, as well as years of experience organizing large-scale jazz dance events.
Shane serves as the Music Coordinator for Track Town Swing (a 501c3 non-profit dedicated to Lindy Hop and Vernacular Jazz), as an accompanist at the University of Oregon Dance Department, and as pianist/organist at First Presbyterian Corvallis.
Nika is based in Eugene, OR and has been teaching and organizing Lindy Hop related gatherings with Track Town Swing since 2013.
She is known for her lighthearted teaching style, and she pays special attention to cultivating a warm and enthusiastic learning environment.
Her ultimate goal when she teaches is to help people feel comfortable in their own bodies, and unlock the simple but infinite joy that is moving to music.
At the core of any dance is the music. Nika is so grateful to Lindy Hop and jazz dance for being the gateway to a powerful appreciation of jazz on and off the dance floor. Finding a great tune will always be what inspires her the most, whether it’s preparing for a class or creating a choreography.
Indoor shoes for dancing are a must. We recommend shoes with suede or leather soles.
