Instructors
Lucy Falkner (She/Her)
Lucy discovered Lindy hop in 1999, and has since travelled extensively to dance, train, and teach. She has taken up numerous other dances (West African, Tap, Contemporary Jazz, Ballet, Burlesque, Broadway Jazz, and various contemporary Street Dances), all more or less in service to her first love: Lindy hop.
As a switch dancer from the very beginning of her Swing dance life, she emphasizes the benefits of learning both roles and clear partner communication. Her teaching approach is to encourage dancers to get a feel for the music, to move in a way that is comfortable and authentic to each person, to mess up enthusiastically and frequently, and to keep it simple.
Nika Jin (She/Her)
Nika is based in Eugene, OR and has been teaching and organizing Lindy Hop related gatherings with Track Town Swing since 2013.
She is known for her lighthearted teaching style, and she pays special attention to cultivating a warm and enthusiastic learning environment.
Her ultimate goal when she teaches is to help people feel comfortable in their own bodies, and unlock the simple but infinite joy that is moving to music.
At the core of any dance is the music. Nika is so grateful to Lindy Hop and jazz dance for being the gateway to a powerful appreciation of jazz on and off the dance floor. Finding a great tune will always be what inspires her the most, whether it’s preparing for a class or creating a choreography.
Damian Cade (He/Him)
Damian grew up in a household infused with jazz and is descended from jazz musicians. He has spent his adult life in the Swing and Tap dance communities- researching, listening, performing, teaching, and celebrating.
Damian presents Jazz dance in its historical and cultural context, and connects it back to its African American roots. He competes regionally and abroad, and his awards include ‘Favorite Competitor’ from the Lindy Hop Championships in Western Canada.
Damian is available for Private Lessons. Book via his link: https://calendly.com/damiancadecounseling/private-lesson
Bailey McCully (She/Her)
Bailey McCully has taught and performed across North America and Europe, but happily calls Washington home. She teaches dance to movers of all ages, working in Seattle schools to provide accessible dance classes to young dancers. Her background and work in education has made pedagogical excellence both a passion and defining quality. Bailey always aims to create a class culture in which students feel safe to try, fail, and learn to become the best dancers they can be.
While technique is always a component, Bailey focuses on teaching students about how they can move rather than how they should move. She loves to explore personal style and creativity with her students, using the music as the constant source of guidance and inspiration. Just as jazz music lets you hear the personality of the musician, Bailey believes that jazz dancing should reflect the personality of the dancer. Dancing with a partner or dancing solo, Bailey radiates the joy of jazz with every step.
Bailey is available for private lessons. Please reach her via: https://www.baileymccully.com/
