After the success of the first edition of our re-booted Swing Social workshops (back in March), we bring you a whole afternoon of LINDY HOP AND MUSICALITY with not one, not two, but three teachers. Yep, you heard correct, Catie Fissel, Dave Henderson and Kelby MacNayr will be our dancing guides. Dave started dancing in 1998 and Catie started shortly after. Social dancing to great music is what they most care about. Now they want to share their love of lindy hop with you! Drummer / composer / band-leader Kelby MacNayr performs groundbreaking original music, soulful swinging jazz, reaching contemporary music and traditional music from around the world. Kelby follows his passion to create and collaborate, teach and learn. This workshop is for everyone, beginner and experienced dancers alike.

Classes Essential Lindy Hop with Catie & Dave You know it, you love it, but sometimes it doesn't love you. It's the Swing Out! It's been a while and work can always be done to improve swing outs, the essential Lindy Hop move. Let's touch up, polish, and refine it, til it's perfection. Mindful Madness with Catie & Dave Let's focus on how we dance with partners and play a fun game too. You got Rhythm with Kelby & Catie Lindy Hop and Rhythm are inseparable. Learn about rhythm moods and how to play with them. You can't ask for Anything More with Kelby & Catie Learn, Listen, Lindy Hop.
Schedule (subject to change) Noon - Doors and Registration. Show up for outdoor check in. Please have your QR Code Vaccine Record and Photo ID ready. If your Vaccine Record is from a different province or country, please email sdaofvictoria@gmail.com so we can have the correct checking app for you. 12:15 - 4:15 pm - Classes with 15 minute rest breaks in between 4:15 - 4:45 pm - Social 5:00 pm - Out of the building, but not necessarily the end of the fun. (The Loft has live Blues and R+B from 7-10pm, just saying)

James Bay Community Center School Activity Room, 140 Oswego St, Victoria Free parking is available in the drive through lot on Simcoe St beside the field. Free street parking is also available. Things to Bring Indoor shoes for dancing. We recommend shoes with suede or leather soles, though rubber would be okay. Water bottle, stay hydrated/ Towel, stay dry. Proof of Vaccination and Photo ID. You must be Fully Vaccinated to attend this event. Mask. You must wear a mask for the entire event. We're still operating cautiously at present, so proof of vaccination and mask-wearing will be in effect.
